the week you left
a summer storm
snuffed out the power
the afternoon half-light
painted every wall
gray
i listened to the sheets of rain
snap against the window
while my own
moldered
in the dryer
i lit candles
sat in silence
a bewitching
reverse vigil
hungry thunder
amplified
the emptiness
licking my insides
with every electric
crack in the clouds
i felt the
fissure
widen
