Morning

NaPoWriMo 2022 // day 28

Despite being unable to post every day in the final week of NaPoWriMo (I was working on a launch for something new—check it out!), I still wanted to write 30 poems in total. So, we continue:

Every morning
I ascend
the Valley
of unconsciousness
and tip myself up over the edge
into the sunlight
of belief

…that this day
is worth
being here for.

This poem made me think of those who struggle with suicidal thoughts.

Some days are tough. You absolutely deserve to get through them.

If you or someone you know is struggling with suicidal thoughts, call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline (Lifeline) at 1-800-273-TALK (8255), or text the Crisis Text Line (text HELLO to 741741). Both services are free and available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. All calls are confidential.
