This application form is for a developmental or line editing service for a fiction manuscript.
You can choose from services focusing on either development and structure of the manuscript, or line editing for tone, consistency, and artistry.
Here’s how it works:
1 // You fill out the form below with details about your project, including word and page count, and a writing sample.
(If we move forward with working together, the writing sample will be exempted from the final invoice—in other words, free!)
2 // I’ll email you back within 48 hours with a projected timeline, an invoice, and directions for how to submit your document (pdf, doc, docx, google doc). In most cases, I can also offer a payment plan.
3 // After receipt of payment, I’ll get to work on your project based on our timeline, and will return your document with thoughtful suggestions, artistic recommendations, and/or questions from the POV of a reader.
I strive to be an encouraging, uplifting voice, even when offering you ideas for improvement. I want you to feel inspired through our collaboration!
I use comments and/or tracked changes in Google docs to give written feedback—the final decision for accepting or rejecting suggested changes will always rest with the client.
4 // You can let me know your communication preferences in the application below. Weekly emailed updates, regular conversations over Voxer (free voice messaging app), or little-to-no communication until the edits are finished (I get it, you’ve got a lot going on).

I do not accept manuscripts for horror, christian romance, religious fiction, military thriller, or true crime genres.
I do not provide fact-checking for historical/procedural/sci-fi manuscripts.
I do not offer copyediting (grammar, spelling, punctuation) or proofreading (final edit to check for mistakes before printing) as part of this service. These are services purchased separately.
Cost is determined by:
+ page count for developmental editing ($1.80 per page, double-spaced, 12 pt font, letter size)
+word count for line editing ($0.09 per word).
Manuscripts receive 1 edit, and 1 review (another go-over after the client has made changes in response to the edit) for a total of 2 rounds, plus 2 weeks of Voxer support after receiving the final review.
Turnaround time is dependent on the length of the document, and whether or not a specific deadline is in play. Median-size manuscripts will typically be returned for the first round of editing within 3 weeks.
