Five Minute Friday: Treasure

On Fridays I spend five minutes or so writing on a word prompt from the Five Minute Friday community. Then, I hit publish. Good for the writing muscles and for cultivating a playful approach to the writing work that can sometimes be taken oh-so-seriously.

the seekers and the wanderers
these are the ones who carry a name
a mystery
a wild untamed way with them

on mission
to uncover the buried
because isn’t resurrecting what’s underground
all we ever want to do?

dig long in the dark
spilling spade-fuls, lifting loam
separating earth from itself so as to turn this dying
into some hard, cold golden living

You can find today’s linkup for the prompt here.

I’ve missed doing FMF! It’s fun to be back.

If you enjoy reading my words, I think you’ll enjoy The Circle.

Once a month, I send a letter with some of my deeper thoughts on identity, and include links to helpful resources or offer practical exercises for making our secure identity front and center in our season.

Join and you’ll receive a free pdf on connecting with God in the midst of the overwhelm.

Here’s what I’m sharing over on Instagram:

  1. Oh, man, can you dig it?
Christ made us the Kids of Light,
and I almost had a fit,
    it’s just so outta sight,
    like something seen at Woodstock,
    or a Mel Brooks movie;
this stuff really stopped my clock
    and got me feelin’ groovy,
so I’ll put on my tie-dyes,
    and bell-bottoms too,
    granny shades upon my eyes…
how do I look to you?
Now I’m off to spend the day
hangin’ out with Boss Big J.
